Selah: (reading Casson's sock) Smart Wool.
Lisa: Where did she read that?
Casson: On my sock.
Selah: Yeah, Smart Wool.  (Then looking at her own socks) I have smart cotton.

Busy month

My cousins Jody and Michelle, holding the second cousins Sebastian and Pete

I love Lyle!

Vanessa is a majestic bride.

The most beautiful wedding day you can imagine!  Uncle Michael and Aunt Kate

Sim and Pet
So much has happened this month.  Babies have milestones like rolling over, which are fun.  But Uncle Michael and Aunt Kate got married on Oct 27th, and Aunt Vanessa and Uncle Jason got married on November 17th.  We've flown to Minnesota twice in three weeks!  Pete is an awesome flyer, and he can barely recover from the flight oxygen, sleeping 20 hours a day it seems, for  a week. The weddings were unbelievably fun.  Selah danced like crazy and ran around with the ring bearer Cristian, her second cousin, for hours at the Burdine wedding.  She made a new friend, Jayden, the ring bearer at the Peterzen wedding.  Pete got to be held by his great aunts all evening.  I don't remember ever having so much fun and feeling so much happiness in all my life!

Visiting the Brookshire Museum
We drove out to Tyler for a quick visit prior to attending Casson's father's memorial on Saturday.  In Tyler we got to spend some quality time with Granny and Grandpa (I didn't get good pictures, will update when I snag pictures from Avara's camera over Christmas), too short of a time with Andrea and Matt, went to an animal museum (incredible, but also a bit disturbing), attended the Rose Queen Coronation (incredible, quite extravagant), and Casson and I got a good m.b. ride in the mix. Then we all drove down to Jasper to memorialize Ron Mathis.  It was a nice memorial, and we got to see Casson's aunts and uncles (Bob and Cindy, David and Cindy) and the man that Casson is named after, J.C. Casson Jr.  We also got to see sweet Wanda Mathis again, after ten years.  Sorry I didn't take any pictures at the memorial.

Robin and Sim at Granite Mountain last weekend, during our "turn" to watch the kids while the husbands went for a m.b. ride.

We attended a "Pinata" last night.  So cute, and a whole new level of chaos - example: 15 children on 1 trampoline?

Birthday bash

Brody's birthday party (a friend from Little Big Minds).  These are Selah's pals, Anya and Dylan.

I saw the side of the birthday boy's head for about two seconds.  There were about 40 kids at this birthday party, running like squirrels and bouncing like jelly beans.

Grampa Ron

Very sadly, Casson's dad, "Grampa Ron" passed away on Tuesday.  He had melanoma.  He called us this past July.  It had been quite a while since we'd seen him or heard from him.  Selah and Petros finally got to meet him.  Selah and he became pen pals for the past two months.  Ron was a Vietnam vet.  He loved gardening (he had three huge gardens which he ate almost exclusively from).  He rode horses, caught catfish, raised puppies and kept bees for honey (without hardly ever being stung).  He knew how to propagate almost any plant.  He said of himself that he could never throw anything away.  He had all kinds of stuffed animals and funny characters around his house.  There will be a memorial for him in Texas in November.

Fun Times

This rock'n'roll movie is for a limited time only.  (I heard the music on and this is what I found happening in the kitchen.)

Also, Selah and Pete put in an appearance at Simeon's blog: Snug Travels (You Don't Have To Bring the Kitchen Sink).

Selah (commenting spontaneously about preschool):  The best part about school is... the learning.

Lisa (to Casson): Speaking of shots, did you make those Dr. appointments yet?
Selah: Speaking of doctors, do you have any shots at home?

Petros had a great Dr. appointment yesterday.  Weighed in at 12 lbs 4 oz.

Date night for Selah and her dad.  They went to St. Francis' and then watched Kipper.

Selah started preschool today at Little Big Minds Preschool.
